Q&A with Heather, Senior Account Manager

28th March 2017 - Neo PR

Are you looking to move up the career ladder or start a new challenge? To give you a little taster of what PR is like, we sat down with our Account Manager, Heather, to find out what she loves about PR, her favourite campaigns and what a typical day in the office looks like.

What is your full job title at Neo PR?

Senior Account Manager.

How long have you been working in PR?

Just had a count on my fingers and: 4 and a half years!

Why was PR your chosen career path?

Writing is a big passion of mine, and something I always wanted to turn into a career. PR has a good balance of different activities, with enough writing to keep me happy, but not so much that it gets monotonous.

What is a typical day at Neo PR like for you as an Account Manager?

It’s often said, but every day is different, which is a definite perk of the job. There’s a daily buzz as everyone powers through their to-do lists, which will be a mix of client update calls, copywriting, pitching, events organising and social media management.

What is your favourite thing about PR?

The variety – it’s impossible to get bored working in PR. It’s also very rewarding to see your hard work translated into coverage and pleased clients.

What advice would you give to someone looking to work in PR?

PR can be a competitive career to get into – so be enthusiastic, willing to learn and act on feedback. If you’re looking to move up the ladder, don’t allow yourself to get complacent in your daily tasks.

What is the best thing about working at Neo PR?

There’s always a great atmosphere in the office. No matter how busy it gets, we always make time for a group lunch or team huddle. We also have the best Christmas parties!

What has been/is your favourite PR campaign or what brand do you think does PR really well?

The first campaign I was ever exposed to when I started in PR was the Bodyform spoof video that went viral. I thought this was pretty genius, and seemed to trigger a new way for brands to interact with their social media following – and beyond, as the video went viral. For those who can’t remember, here’s Bodyform CEO, Caroline Williams, addressing a Facebook post from a disgruntled boyfriend, Richard Neill…
